Panel 1:
Sargreon leans in close to Tony, who edges away a bit.
Sargreon: I'm looking at your biomagical aura to figure out what happened to you.
Tony: ...Aura?
Panel 2:
Out of Sargreon's eyes we see Tony and Mistaire in aura form. Tony appears as a birdlike humanoid, an ethereal beak overlapping his human mouth. Mistaire's body and face are divided into white and black halves. They look over at Sargreon.
Sargreon: Everyone has one. It's basically all the magic stored in your body. Yours is...interesting.
Tony: What?
Panel 3:
Tony looks behind himself at his wings and moves them forward and back.
Sargreon: Try moving your wings. Do you have control of them?
Tony: Yeah!
Panel 4:
Sargreon cuts out his magicky business and thinks to himself, his hand grazing over his weird chin-mandible whatever.
Sargreon: That's what I was worried about. The spell has been integrated INTO your aura.
Panel 5:
Tony moves one wing around to his front and passes a finger through it experimentally.
Tony: ...Is that bad?
Panel 6:
Sargreon shrugs.
Sargreon: Well, we might not be able to reverse it.
Tony (enthusiastic): So I can keep 'em?
Panel 7:
Sargreon holds one fist with determination. Tony becomes discouraged, his ears and wings drooping.
Sargreon: We're still going to try.
Tony: Aaw.
Up at the top there's a footnote that says 'biomagic auras and distals are the same thing' That's a note to myself referring to an old term I made up for the same concept. I thought I was going to still use the word but nope! Soon after this comic I threw the word out entirely. I'm pretty sure it means something for real anyways.
The concept, though, is pretty integral to the comic. Biomagical auras are basically souls, and their visible manifestations are an amalgamation of the person's traits. Tony isn't defined by much other than his new Laserhawk form. Mistaire is...Cruella DeVille, apparently. We'll explore that at a much, much later time.
