Panel 1:
Flashback to Friday afternoon, the moon in the foreground and Earth off in the distance.
Mistaire (narrating): He thought it was a good idea to hold my magic lessons in the galactic backwoods. 'Cause, y'kow, I'm apparently incapable of casting spells without exploding entire planets.
Panel 2:
Mistaire lounges indifferently, her arms behind her back in a lazy stretch. She yawns.
Sargreon (off-panel): I can't stress this enough, Mistaire. The Laserhawk is a very delicate summon.
Mistaire (thinking): And I thought SPACE MATH was dull.
Panel 3:
Sargreon stares at Mistaire angrily.
Sargreon: Are you listening? You're not listening! We can go back to conjuring slugs if this bores you.
Panel 4:
Mistaire gets up, cracks her back, and walks around a bit.
Mistaire: Sheez! I'm listening, okay? Can we stop with the lecturing?
Sargreon: Fine. Go on, show me how you summon a Laserhawk.
Panel 5:
Mistaire braces herself in a dramatic pose, holding one hand out to Sargreon, the other clenched in a fist.
Mistaire: Ho'kay. Stand back!
Panel 6:
Mistaire begins to chant her spell, the energy blowing her hair upwards and darting between her fingers. Sargreon stands back and watches worriedly.
Mistaire's spell is depicted with swirling alien magic runes...which have not been written into this page.
Sargreon: This won't end well.

Come to think of it, does Mistaire EVER conjure anything? No she does not, mostly she just tosses fireballs and floats around. But she can. That's the thing, she CAN conjure slugs. Not that it's ever useful. The magic runes, at one point, had a much more important part in the way magic works. Mistaire used to have to write runes onto little papers...y'know, like the things Sailor Mars uses? And that's how spells worked. She pulled rune papers out of thin air all the time. At some point I just forgot to draw them. They do have a place in the world though...You can prepare a spell in advance so that you don't have to expend energy on it later. And people OTHER than the original rune caster can use them. Pauline uses a magic wall this way later.
