Powers:

Mistaire is an Etherean, a species largely similar to humans, with a higher magical aptitude. Mistaire's magic powers are not exceptionally strong, but she is versatile. She wields quadrielemental magic (the combined elements of earth, air, fire, and water) that has a wide range of applications, she can cast nearly any spell, as long as she can understand it. Her current spell repertoire is limited to the basics; flying, conjuring fire, and little useful tricks. Her few attempts at summoning have all resulted in giving superpowers to people, which suggests that she has some unique untapped ability that has not yet been studied. She holds a close relationship to the two humans whom she has granted superpowers, Tony and Taylor. They can both communicate emotions to her telepathically (though not to each other) and she can control the power of their magic.

Weaknesses:

Mistaire's spells have a tendency to malfunction in spectacular ways. Her two 'summons,' Tony and Taylor, gain their powers from her and are a constant drain on her magic. She is still new at magic and often antagonizes her teacher. Up until meeting her Earth friends, she lived a pampered life and was a bit self-centered, she often hesitates before putting herself in danger to help others. The stress of new responsibilities is starting to get to her.

History:

Mistaire was born on a private satellite mansion orbiting her home planet, Etherea. Her father is a rich interplanetary oil baron, her mother was once a supermodel before becoming a trophy wife. Since kindergarten she has attended a prestigious boarding school for the children of powerful people. Her interest in magic has always been present, but it was not until the summer before her senior year that she actually began taking lessons. Her parents arranged for her to travel with the accomplished mage Sargreon Sohla, who did his best to teach the self-centered girl.

Mistaire's involvement with Earth began when Sargreon took her out to a remote spot to train without fear of damaging anything important. They thought that they were training on the moon of a lifeless planet in an uninhabited system, but when a stray spell starts hurtling towards the blue planet, Sargreon double-checks and finds that it is in fact inhabited by an underdeveloped race known as the Humans. Mistaire and Sargreon try to fix the mistakes they made, but instead wind up befriending the spell's victim, a human boy named Tony Cook. When it becomes clear that they can't remove his newfound superpowers, they stick around to keep him from ruining his society with things they're not meant to know. Mistaire ends up enlisted into the Red Jacket Brigade with Tony, fighting crime on Earth.

Relationships: Mistaire's parents have always been distant, and she has spent much of her life in boarding school. In addition, her older sister Ilan has overshadowed her academically and in her parents' eyes. She is used to people being distant, and consoles herself with the money they send her. She goes through boyfriends very quickly and casually and has largely superficial friendships. Sargreon, her magic teacher, has tried to be more involved in her life, but she resents him for it, often reminding him that he is not her father. She becomes very close to her Earth friends. Tony is like a fun brother to her, she is fond of Clarisse, and pursues an on/off relationship with Taylor.
