Powers:

Josh is human and has no actual powers of his own, though he does have a slightly higher magical aptitude than normal. His magic is soul-elemental, a type that is rare and powerful for its ability to manipulate biomagical auras. When wearing his Scytheman cloak he gains the ability to fly, go through walls, and become invisible. He is well-trained in combat with his scythe and other pole weapons. The scythe can damage ghosts, and a jewel set near the blade can trap them.

Weaknesses:

Josh has lived for most of his life with a hyperactive metabolism. He is severely underweight, always hungry, and has to take pills to regulate his heart rate and other problems. He is able to function in normal society as well as anyone else but sometimes winds up in the hospital for one reason or another. In part due to his illness he has developed a slew of nagging fears of varying severity, including mysophobia (fear of germs), necrophobia (fear of dead things) and a fear of starvation. He also has a fierce temper that sometimes gets him into trouble.

History:

Josh was born in Rhode Island, but was moved to East California after kindergarten when his father changed jobs. The move was in part to put Josh closer to a hospital that could provide good care for him. Despite his poor health he lived a fairly normal, happy childhood. In East California he soon became close friends with Matt Wright and Tony Cook. Upon reaching high school, Josh discovered the goth crowd and drastically changed his wardrobe and attitude. His friends were alienated by his change but stuck by him.

When Josh was fourteen he was briefly abducted by aliens from the Scytheman Organization, an intergalactic group dedicated to rounding up ghosts for reasons that won't be disclosed to normal people. He was trained with a group of recruits in his spare time while maintaining his normal life and schoolwork. For two years his career went fairly smoothly, but on one mission he crossed paths with Matt and Tony, who had become superheroes, and he has been dragged into their problems ever since.

Relationships: Josh is spoiled by his parents, due to his father's comfortable salary and his lifelong illness. He sees no problem with spending their money impulsively and often gets into arguments with his dad. Although he won't admit it, he's very attatched to his mother. He is an only child but is very protective of his cousin Jenny. His best friend since the first grade is Matt Wright, and although the two constantly bicker they are very close. About 25% of their high school student body mistakenly believes them to be a couple. He is also good friends with Tony Cook and a crowd of Hot Topic customers from his school. His only past romantic relationship was with a goth girl named Rosamond. Matt actually approved of her because she 'wasn't as goth as the others.' However, in general Josh isn't interested in high school girls, who he deemed immature.
