Panel 1:
Clik! Cut to a shot of a short-haired woman firing off two Zapper light guns...which apparently shoot actual light.
Pauline (off-panel): We were crimefighters. We fought bank robbers, rapists...oh, and lots of coke dealers. They're like roaches, I swear.
Panel 2:
Clik! A picture of a Zapper, a Power Glove, and a plain NES controller comes onscreen.
Pauline (off-panel): We were just a bunch of kids in college, but I rigged us up all kinds of gnarly weaponry. Mostly from Nintendo parts. You work with what you got.
Panel 3:
Cut to Tony and Pauline standing next to each other. Pauline's hand is on the mouse.
Tony: ...How?
Pauline: I was an engineering major. Look, next slide.
Panel 4:
Back to the powerpoint, we see a collection of scanned newspaper articles placed on one slide. Readable headlines are: RED JACKETS STRIEK BACK!!! and Red Jackets- Heroes or Maniacs?
Pauline (off-panel): We got pretty famous for a while there... ...For better or worse.
Panel 5:
Clik! A touching photo of the two other Red Jackets at a wedding. Pauline stands in the background, disappointed.
Pauline (off-panel): But when Renegade and Deadrest got married in '87, we all fell apart.
Panel 6:
Zoom back out to Pauline looking over at Tony. Why did the mouse change hands?
Pauline: They had a kid, last I heard...a boy, about the same age as you and Matt.
Tony: 80's hair is weird.
Panel 7:
Quick, uneventful shot of the outside of the base, the shitty old mainframe.
Pauline (off-panel): So I've been living here with my gadgets, waiting to rebuild the team.
Tony (off-panel): ...For eighteen years?
Pauline (off-panel): Never you mind.
Panel 8:
Clik! Picture of Matt on the powerpoint, giving an overenthusiastic thumbs-up.
Pauline (off-panel): And then Matt showed up.
Matt (off-panel): Me!
Pauline (off-panel): Yes, you.
Panel 9:
Matt (actual Matt) smiles goofily.
Matt: Originally I just wanted to poke around the hobo house! Because y'know how cool hobos are, with their boxcars and their socks with the toes missing. That's the life!
So many words, so little space. Trivia: 1987 plus eighteen years equals 2005. The comic begins in early 2005, although I started this draft in late 2006. Another trivia: On the same day I made this page, I broke up with my first boyfriend. He basically left me for World of Warcraft, so basically I saved myself a lifetime of grief and Cheeto stains.
