Powers:

Clarisse is a normal human with no superpowers. In addition, she is biomagically defensive, a condition present in 10-30% of all souls that prevents them from using magic, and preventing most magic from having an effect on them. Therefore, she is immune to magic, to a certain extent. She cannot be mindwiped and sees through basic illusions. In addition she has trained under Pauline Doomehart in physical combat. She specializes in swordfighting, and can hold her own in hand-to-hand combat.

In addition to physical strength, Clarisse is an intelligent, friendly girl with an interest in politics. She is a natural spokesman and usually counted on to negotiate with alien nations and speak to the public about superhero affairs. Both allies and enemies are fond of her and are more likely to listen to her reasoning than that of the other heroes.

Weaknesses:

Clarisse is absolutely unable to learn magic. She is also not 100% immune to magic. When magic is used directly on her, it has no effect, but when magic is used to manipulate the physical environment it can harm her indirectly. A magically conjured fire will not burn her, she feels no heat from it. However, using magic to manipulate real molecules can start a physical fire, which will burn. She is also a bit too trusting of people, has trouble lying but is quick to believe the lies of others.

History:

Clarisse is the daughter of upper-middle-class former hippies and has been somewhat spoiled for most of her life. She is a faithful Catholic and an active participant in lots of charities and extracirriculars. She has always been the good girl, well-liked but not popular, usually the teachers' pet. One day when she was sixteen, while walking home from school she stumbled upon a classmate collapsed on the sidewalk. There she witnessed Tony Cook's transformation into the superhero Laserwing. Originally mistaking him for an angel, she became active in his life and got wrapped up into the world of crimefighting.

After spending a considerable amount of time on the sidelines, and being abducted by aliens once, Clarisse decided to take her fate into her own hands and began training with the Red Jacket Brigade. With the help of her friends she became a competent fighter.

Relationships: Clarisse is a kind person who gets along with most everybody. Her best friend since the fifth grade is Taylor Denton, whom she sees as an older brother figure. She has recently become close to Tony Cook, who has harbored a crush on her for years, but is oblivious to his feelings. Similarly, during her time as an abductee she attracted the affections of Trieg Penki, to the point that she motivated him to break free of his "mother's" control and join the good guys. When poked and prodded by friends who KNOW that she has admirers, she insists that they are just teasing her. The only one who seems to actively dislike her is Josh Connor, who is pessimistic and attitudinal, her polar opposite in pretty much every way. However, she treats him like anyone else, which irritates him to no end.
